Hanner Hall was built in 1925, at an initial cost of $148,522.  Located on the corner of Athletic Avenue and Bennett Memorial Drive, Hanner opened in 1925 as a men's residence hall. Hanner was built at the same time as Thatcher, which was a women's residence hall. For several years, Hanner housed varsity athletes.
In 1968, Hanner was closed as a residence hall and presently provides office space for the Speech and Hearing Clinic and the Philosophy Department. The building's name honors the first Oklahoma A&M College student to become a casualty of World War I, Carter G. Hanner.
