Welcome to the OSU Philosophy Department Undergraduate Students Portal The OSU Philosophy Department is home to approximately 90 undergraduates and 12 graduate students. We have 11 Ph.D.’d faculty and 6 lecturers. The Department facilities include a computer lab with up-to-date technology which is open to all students Monday-Friday from 8-5 pm. Our Conference Room has books and journals available for student use. We have a Reading Room where students can enjoy a quiet space to read or study. Friends of the Forms, a student philosophy club, sponsors bi-weekly lectures and discussions by on campus faculty from a wide variety of Colleges and Departments. Each Spring they host a special "Philosopher-in-Residence" program inviting a philosopher of national reputation to come for three days, give two lectures, and meet informally with students. There are no dues, all meetings are free and open to the public. The program is constructed by the officers in connection with the club's advisor. In 2000, the Friends of the Forms was awarded the Arts & Sciences Student Organization of the Year. The Department offers students the opportunity to be a member of the Oklahoma Alpha Chapter of Phi Sigma Tau, a National Honor Society for philosophy students. The purpose of Phi Sigma Tau is to encourage interest and activity among students and to promote ties between philosophy departments in accredited institutions. Oklahoma State University has excellent resources for students with disabilities. For more information, please contact see Student Disability Services.
